Smart Aisle Menu is built and maintained by Tyler, a home cook in Spring Hill, Florida. He shops the Aldi weekly ad every week for his own family's dinners, and got tired of the same two-step chore: read the flyer, then go hunting for recipes that happen to use what's on sale. This site is the shortcut he wanted — the flyer read for you, and a week of dinners built around it before you leave the driveway.
Grocery prices rise and fall every week, but most meal planners ignore what's actually on sale. A chicken breast that cost $4.99 a pound last Tuesday might drop to $2.49 this Wednesday, and that's the week to plan meals around it. Planning deal-first instead of recipe-first is the whole idea: the sale price picks the protein, the protein picks the dinners, and the total lands where you want it.

How a week gets built from the ad
When you enter a zip code, Smart Aisle Menu pulls the Aldi weekly ad for the stores serving that area and reads the advertised prices for meat, produce, dairy, and pantry staples. Those sale prices become the plan's spine: the planner looks for the deepest discounts, spreads seven dinners across them without repeating the same meal twice, and writes each dinner out with its ingredients, quick steps, and per-serving nutrition.
Every ingredient in a plan is tied to the ad it came from. If something isn't in the current flyer, it isn't used, so a plan never sends you to the store for a deal that ended last week. Swap any dinner you don't like, add the pantry items you already have, and the shopping list and total update to match.

How prices are estimated
Dinner costs are built from the prices printed in the Aldi weekly ad: each ingredient's advertised price is scaled to the amount the recipe calls for, and a package is counted once even when several dinners share it. Sale prices are compared against the item's regular price so the saving is visible, and the week's total is the sum of the packages the shopping list actually asks you to buy.
Ads vary by region, so treat every figure as an estimate rather than a receipt: stores can run different prices, pack sizes change, and limited-time Finds sell out. Confirm prices in store before you check out.
